Orwak’s distributor in Slovakia recently supplied 15 Compact 3110 balers to COOP stores in eastern Slovakia. It began with a successful trial installation after a retail event and has now helped COOP achieve a more efficient waste management solution. Baling significantly reduces waste volume, saving both storage space and time for the staff.
It all started with the retail event Samoška in Košice, eastern Slovakia, in March. It is a major gathering for Czech and Slovak retailers and bring together store owners, franchisers and suppliers to connect and get inspired by innovations in the industry.
SUCCESSFUL TRIAL INSTALLATION WAS KEY
Orwak’s Slovakian distributor, who participated and had the Orwak baler Compact 3110 on display, met with representatives for COOP in the Vranov nad Topľou district and they had an interesting conversation about the benefits of waste compaction. COOP accepted the offer to test the demo baler from the event for one month in one of its stores. Trial installations usually turn out well, and COOP Vranov nad Topľou was very satisfied with the outcome. Before the trial period was over, COOP placed an order for 5 units of Compact 3110!

Later in June COOP Vranov nad Topľou decided to purchase another 10 balers of the same model for additional stores in the same district! In total, 15 Orwak balers are now installed and simplifying daily work for the shop assistants.
COMPACTION BENEFITS FOR STORES AND STAFF
Before the baler installations, the staff had to fold, flatten and tie cardboard and plastic manually, which was time consuming and inconvenient. The bundles of packaging waste were stored at the back of the shop and collected every 2 weeks by a WMC.
Now, when the balers are in place, the main plus of this solution is the elimination of extra work for the shop assistants related to tying, cutting, folding, storing loose cardboard and plastic.

Before: loose bundles of cardboard After installation: compact bales
The collection system still remains the same, where a WMC picks up the bales free of charge every 2 weeks, but the stores save valuable floor space in the storage area and by simply disposing of empty packaging materials in a baler, the staff is released from the hard work related to the manual waste handling and has more time for other more productive chores. It is not only a more efficient waste management solution, but also a more sustainable, contributing to an increased recycling rate.
COMPACT 3110 – THE PERFECT MATCH FOR SMALL STORES
Why did COOP choose this specific baler model? Compact 3110 has the most compact design and dimensions and fits easily even into smaller storage areas, where every square meter counts. Its advanced simplicity is also appealing. COOP wants a safe and user-friendly machine that is intuitive and easy to operate for all staff, and this baler has in this short time already proven to simplify the daily handling of cardboard and plastic packaging.

Service technician trains the staff to use the machine
This is a great example of how a spontaneous offer, and a convincing trial installation can result in a big machine order for Orwak and an efficient and sustainable waste compaction solution for the customer! We would like to thank COOP Vranov nad Toplou for their effort, innovative thinking and priorities in protecting the environment.
