To contribute to a sustainable community, the Orwak distributor in Costa Rica decided to loan a baler to the local non-profit waste recycling organization Nosara Recicla in peak season, when many visitors come to the area on the Pacific coast. More than 300 bales of recyclables prove the success!
SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT TO PROTECT NATURAL RESOURCES
Nosara Recicla is a prominent non-profit waste recycling organization located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Initiated in 2008 by a group of concerned residents, the organization protects local natural resources through sustainable waste management, community cleanups, and eco-education.
The organization provides weekly collection routes of clean and dry recyclables for homes and businesses in the area, and it organizes regular volunteer sorting days. Nosara Recicla’s central hub is the recycling center operated by a dedicated team of local women, who sorts and prepare recyclables for transport to industrial recycling facilities.
ORWAK DISTRIBUTOR LOANS BALER TO NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION
As part of his commitment to the environment and the community, Marco Villani – the Orwak distributor in Costa Rica – loaned a Compact 3120 baler for a three-month period to Nosara Recicla. As the region is home to one of the most iconic beaches on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, it attracts a lot of tourists and Nosara Recicla is making a big contribution to a clean and sustainable community by recovering recyclables in the area.
MORE THAN 300 BALES IN PEAK SEASON
It was a period of high demand – driven by an increase in domestic and international visitors – and the Orwak baler was indeed frequently used.
The results speak for themselves and demonstrate the positive impact of waste compaction on the community:
- 160 bales of cardboard
- 49 bales of PET bottles
- 39 bales of aluminum
- 37 bales of HDPE
- 18 bales of Tetra Pak
Each bale weighs approximately 80-100 kg, verifying the efficiency and environmental benefits of our balers.
