A lot of time is wasted on manual labor in companies with inadequate waste solutions. “It has always been handled this way”, one can think that investing in waste equipment is a complex and expensive business, “I had no idea it turned out to be so many hours per months” are some reasons and explanations for that, but when looking into it, it is surprising how much time and money a baler can save!

In prior articles, it has been highlighted what an impact fully automated waste compaction solutions such as briquette presses and horizontal balers make in optimizing internal and external logistics and the process around handling considerable volumes of packaging waste, or defined in more positive terms, – recyclables – in a warehouse.

However, a classic vertical Orwak baler like POWER 3420 has the capacity to deal effectively with medium and fairly large streams of cardboard and plastic packaging. A vertical baler of this kind does not require much floor space, and it helps you save valuable storage space on site. Even more importantly, it saves labor hours when staff can focus on the core business and engage in more value creating activities.

A recent case study shared by Orwak Hungary is a telling example how much poor waste management can cost you, but also what a difference a baler makes in saving labor hours and improving logistics.

After a waste audit at a customer site, Orwak Hungary concluded that an amount of approx. 300 000 HUF (about 800 EUR) per month was wasted invisibly by excessive hours spent on manual waste handling and due to poorly organized internal waste logistics.

Staff wasted 1.5-2 hours a day on manually handling 25 pallets of cardboard and plastic foil. This is 220 000–350 000 HUF per month in non-productive labor costs – an operational error that constantly “burned” money for the company.

Installing the ORWAK POWER 3420 baler proves that Compact is Impact

The customer notices many improvements in a short time:

Waste itself is not a problem. A poorly managed process is. This case study shows how waste management can be turned into a self-sustaining and simple system, not a burden.
