As a natural part of Orwak’s commitment to sustainable operations, we have recently made an active shift to CO2 neutral transport of components from our main suppliers to the Orwak production site in Sävsjö, Sweden.
The transport company Sandahls Logistik uses vehicles that run on biogas and HVO100, a renewable diesel, which is made from plant waste and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90 % compared to fossil diesel.
The transition to completely fossil-free transport is at the top of Sandahls Logistik’s agenda and its entire vehicle fleet consisting of 450 heavy trucks will be completely converted to fossil-free by the end of 2025.
Orwak’s main suppliers are located within a distance of 100-120 km from our factory and thanks to the switch to biogas, we estimate a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions for domestic transport of 13-15 % per year.
The trial turned out well and this is a promising first step towards an increasingly higher portion of greener transport in the future.
